How Many People Work in the NHS?

Whilst in church yesterday, my parish priest told me a joke (my parentheses).
A journalist asked the pope (David Nicholson), 'how many people work in the Vatican (NHS)?'  'Oh, at any time I reckon about half' came the response - boom boom
