This recent publication from NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) contains guidance on patients' expectations during their interaction with healthcare professionals. Whilst reading the executive summary, I could not but help feeling that NICE is defining what constitutes professional behaviour for both doctors and nurses. Is this not the job for the GMC (General Medical Council) or General Nursing Council ?
