Von Hagens & the Teaching of Anatomy in Medical Schools #meded

This recent piece in the Lancet on Gunter Von Hagens' travelling BodyWorlds exhibition provides a welcome medical perspective on what has become a phenomenon in the arts world - it is said that 34 million people have seen the exhibition. The article points out that there always has been a  public morbid fascination with anatomy over the years. What surprises me is the fact that this current interest has not been reflected in the amount of attention dedicated to anatomy and gross pathology by medical educationalists. I wonder nowadays whether those who organise curricula in medical schools respond to any feedback from what is happening around them or from medical students themselves?
